Máximo Pacheco is the Minister of Energy of Chile. Under his leadership, Chile has reached many of the ambitious goals established in its Energy Agenda (2014) and carried out a national participatory process to establish a Long Term Energy Policy.

Previously, Minister Pacheco was senior vice president of International Paper from 2004 to 2013 where he also served as their regional president in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Russia. He led International Paper’s operations in Brazil from 2004 until 2009. Before joining International Paper, he was executive vice president for Chile and Latin America at Carter Holt Harvey. Minister Pacheco was appointed executive vice president of operations at la Corporación del Cobre de Chile (Codelco) in 1990. He was the general manager of Leasing Andino from 1983 to 1990. Minister Pacheco earned his degree in Business Management and Economics from the Universidad de Chile.
